
Gabicce: bathing centre placed on two floors; down in Gabicce Mare, within a small gulf, a sandy shore and behind houses and gardens. Up in Gabicce Monte, on the grassy rump of a panoramic rock-cliff, a tangle of trees, clubs, restaurants, pizzerias: the Capri of the Adriatic.
Pesaro: at the outpouring of the Foglia river, between the St. Bartolo headland and the Ardizio hills that stretch out among the waves, Pesaro rises with its eight kilometres of ample and sandy beach. Along the avenues of the seaside, there are equipments for amusements and restaurants.
Fano: offers two distinct bathing areas, the sandy Lido northwards, cut at the outpouring of the Arzilla river, and the long and gravely Sassonia southwards, until the outpouring of the Metauro river.
Riviera del Conero: Small calcareous promontory that goes quickly down towards the sea, creating one of the most beautiful and jagged lines of coast on the Adriatic, it is situated at one hour by car far from the Holiday House Il Pignocco. The beautiful beach of Le Due Sorelle (The Two Sisters), which can be reached by boat, only for the more daring people on foot, is a fantastic place not to lose.
Novilara: town that offers a splendid view from its city walls, known for the ancient and vast picena necropolis, for the remains of the Roman aqueduct and for the villa Marcucci Pinoli. Through the ruins recovered in the necropolis, it is possible to trace back the achievements of a picena merchant and warlike aristocracy that was able to defend its own ships from the assaults of the pirates, as it is testified by the naval clash represented on the so-called “stele di Novilara”, today admirable at the museum Oliveriano of Pesaro.
Candelara: ancient country village castled on one of the hills nearby Pesaro; it is very known for the Feasts that are held here each year: the crafts celebrations (July) and Candles in Candelara (December) organized by the Associazione Culturale Candelara.
Urbino: "Ideal city of the Renaissance", conceived by Federico from Montefeltro, illuminated price of the 15th century, as a nation ordered by rationality; as a symbol of such a nation he conceived an architectural work that could express the new humanistic vision of the world: "a city in the shape of a building": Palazzo Ducale. Such place became centre of a new model of civilization, the same delineated in the admirable pages of the "Cortegiano" by Castiglione and where the genius Raffaello was born.
Gradara: its intact citadel is suggestively hacked on the hill, as a sentinel on the sea. Gradara evokes the romantic love of Paolo and Francesca and their murder committed by Giovanni Malatesta, know as the crippled. The story has been made immortal by Dante in his famous verses.
San Leo: On the overhanging cliff, the inaccessible fortress is risen upright to challenge the winds and it dominates the valley of Marecchia. It took its name by the diffuser of the Christianity, Str. Leo, who came here at to end of the 2nd century. The famous and imposing fortress commissioned by Federico from Montefeltro (centre today of a museum and of a picture gallery), became famous because the known magician, called the count of Cagliostro remained imprisoned here until his death (1795).
Mombaroccio: nearby the village of Mombaroccio, the Franciscan convent-sanctuary of the Beato Sante in the hermitage of the Monks rises. The sanctuary, secular destination of devotion and pilgrimage, was founded in 1233 and is today known as the small Verna of the region Marche. Here the body of Blessed Sante Brancorsini lies.
Auditore: Small castle surrounded by intact walls, that dates back to the first half of 15th century, and that are interposed by two round towers. The Museum of the Linea Gotica di Casinina (Gothic line of Casinina) is of great historical interest.
Museo Villa Bali: Situated in Saltara di Pesaro, it is a scientific museum with planetariums.
